    Making Her Mark

Many, many moons ago, I was the first born daughter to a very young couple, my mother being a teenager when I arrived in this world.  Life became very hard for her and for five years straight after my birth, she gave birth to four of my brothers and my one sister.  From all of her difficulties of having a child each consecutive year and she, herself being of a bipolar nature, I was five years old when I was placed in my grandparent's care.  From that point on, I was raised by them.

In 1973, I graduated from a Christian high school in Ohio, then two years later, I took a couple of courses at the Arkansas University.  I had great plans of becoming a psychologist, but as fate would have it and after a year there, my life took on another direction.

I loved working with my hands plus loved making something old look brand new, so I became an upholsterer and did that line of work for thirty years.  During this time, I began to write, just to relax and get caught up in another world, not one like my own reality of life.

Eventually after all of those years of making a living this way, I sustained a back injury and had to give up that tiresome, strenous job.  That's when my writing began to blossom and create a way of earning a living.  I wrote for a newspaper in the town my family and I resided in at that time, and began to witness miracles from what I had penned and the newspaper had published.  Talk about stunned!  I couldn't believe it was me, who was making good things happen!  From there, I started writing books.  If newspaper articles could produce such a positive impact, then surely my books could too.

As far as I know and have heard, "Graceful Reflections," (my first book,) has had a resounding impact in the Domestic Violence Centers and councelors are using my book as an example to show how a woman can survive, heal and become a stronger person.  I think this is wonderful- I also thank God for giving me the gift He has and for me being able to witness the positive effect I have on other peoples lives.  I guess, in a round about way, I did contribute somehow to the psychology avenue...  For this, I am happy...

My second book, "Birthplace of Evil," was released out onto the market this past March, 2009.  It's a suspense novel with a serial killer crime senario.  It was fun to write and a completely different genre than "Graceful Reflections."

Currently, I'm working on a book that is centered around peoples lives and their heartaches of domestic violence with all of the many abuses they have had to suffer through.  It is my hope and prayer that this book will help bring more awareness to this dark side of love and human greed.  There is a mighty cry for change...   -Abby
